Behind story – Logo of ICC World Cup 1999

Indian pace bowler Debashish Mohanty was the inspiration behind the logo of 1999 ICC cricket world cup. The designer studied the follow through of Mohanty and finally constructed it graphically. The multi-color strokes represent 12 playing nations across the globe. The world cup logo was designed by electing the feature of a batsman in 96, hence, it was decided to pick a bowler for 99.

Debashish Mohanty played 2 Test and 45 ODI matches for India between 1997 and 2001.
