Jhulan Goswami – The Chakdaha Express

11/27/2020 by admin
Trivia:

Jhulan Goswami is the highest wicket-taker in Women’s ODI. She had not much interest in cricket till 15. Jhulan was the ball- girl during the 97-world cup final game at Eden Gardens, Calcutta. She was highly inspired after watching Belinda Clark, Debbie Hockey Cathryn Fitzpatrick, and decided to play cricket professionally. Life was not easy for Jhulan initially. It is expected from a middle-class Bengali girl to concentrate on studies or other hobbies like singing, dancing, or painting. Cricket is unheard-of. When she took the game seriously, no one encouraged her. However, she decided to chase her dreams. Jhulan used to travel 80 KM every day to reach the ground for practice. She used to wake up at 4:30 in the morning to catch the train. Every day she spent around 5 hours in travel. It’s the love for the game which kept her going. After years of hard work and dedication, she finally selected for the India Women team in 2002. She cemented her place soon and emerged as one of the finest quick bowlers in world cricket. Jhulan Goswami is the inspiration of thousands of women cricketers, a motivational leader and ambassador of women’s cricket.
