Jack Kallis and the Cat in the Emergency Room
Trivia:
In 1997, South Africa was playing the first Test match against Pakistan at Rawalpindi. The wicket was flat and the bowlers had a tough day on the field. Suddenly, a scream from the dressing room raised many eyebrows. It was informed to nearby officials that Jack Kallis was suffering from excruciating stomach pain. The officials called the ambulance immediately. However, the ambulance got delayed. The officials asked Dr. Nauman Niaz to arrange a ride for Kallis, Gibbs and Cullinan to Holy Family hospital. While waiting for the surgeon, a cat entered the emergency room. All the players were perplexed and didn’t appreciate the presence of a cat in the emergency room. Kallis decided not to operate in Pakistan and immediately flew back to South Africa where he had undergone appendicitis surgery.
