Meeting with Mother Teresa:
It was during the 1996 cricket world cup when Steve Waugh met with Mother Teresa in Kolkata. He left the hotel at early dawn to arrive at the home of Missionaries of Charity. The gentle sunlight of early morning brought the sense of belonging at the congregation’s spiritual home.
Finally, the moment had arrived. Mother gave him a business card. The message was ‘The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service’.
Waugh said, “Her impact on so many people around the world… it is pretty incredible,”.

The foundation is helping children who have diseases that don’t meet the set criteria of other charitable organizations. There is a dedicated team to help the quality of life for children and young people living with rare diseases. Steve says rare disease patients are the “orphans of the health system … often without diagnosis, without treatment, without research and often without hope”. Steve Waugh Foundation helps them tirelessly.
It’s been one hell of a journey. He sets an example for everyone. We salute the legend.
