Andy Roberts – Two Bouncers Theory

07/27/2020 by admin
Trivia:

Andy Roberts was the first Antiguan to play Test cricket for the West Indies. He was part of the deadly 4 pace attacks of West Indies along with Holding, Garner and Colin Croft. Marshall later joined the troop and became one of the greatest fast bowlers ever. Roberts played 47 Test and 56 ODI matches between 1974 and 1983. He took 202 Test wickets and 87 ODI wickets.

Two Bouncers Theory:

Robert used to bowl two different bouncers to batsmen. The first bouncer was a slower one which most of the batsmen dealt with ease. Followed by a quick fiery bouncer. Batsmen tried to play in a similar fashion as they played the slower one earlier and deceived by the extra pace and bounce, resulting either injuries or getting out. The trick worked for him on many occasions.
